Our approach
Plant-based nutrition
Did you know that unhealthy diets are now the top cause of chronic illness around the world? These eating patterns have contributed to our current global health crisis with rising rates of overweight, obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers and dementia.
The good news is that it’s never too late and using the right foods in your diet can be a very powerful way to regain your health.
That’s why at PBHO, we recommend a plant-based diet – it’s one of the healthiest choices you can make.
What is a WFPBD diet?
A whole food plant-based diet (WFPBD) focuses on eating foods as they are grown and is centred on vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans, legumes, nuts and seeds.
Foods such as meat, chicken, fish, dairy and eggs as well as processed foods are reduced or eliminated from the diet.

Plant-based for health
Eating a plant-based diet has been shown to significantly reduce the risk of common chronic diseases, while helping you live a longer and healthier life. A healthy plant-based diet reduces the risk of the following:
- Coronary heart disease by 25%
- Cancer by 15%
- Type 2 diabetes by at least 50%
- Helps you maintain a healthy weight throughout your life
Plant-based diets can also be used to treat established illness, such as heart disease and diabetes, alongside conventional medical treatments.
National and international guidelines now recommend plant-based diets for prevention of cardiovascular disease, cancer and the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Major dietetic organisations around the world, including the British Dietetic Association have confirmed that a 100% plant-based diet can meet nutritional requirements for every age and life-stage.
We are here to help you move towards a healthy plant-based lifestyle. By doing so, you can significantly reduce your risk of developing chronic diseases, achieve a healthy weight, improve your energy levels and in some cases, even come off your medications.
Plant-based for the planet
There is now global consensus that to sustain both human and planetary health, we must all shift to a plant-based food system.
The global food system is a major contributor to the climate crisis with animal agriculture contributing significantly through its impact on greenhouse gas emissions, land degradation, loss of biodiversity, species loss and water pollution.
Animal agriculture is also constantly generating new infectious threats and these infections can result in human epidemics and pandemics at any given time. The use of antibiotics in animal agriculture is also a major driver in generating antibiotic-resistant infections.
